Víctor Montserrat, Head Coach of Barcelona Global Squash, was more than happy with the performance and the results of his two players in both finals:

“I am particularly proud today; Nilo Vidal has become the Catalonia Junior U19 Champion but I’m not happy just because of that, but also because despite having lost in the final of the Spanish Championship only a few days ago, his smile and passion for squash is still intact. He is able to take his defeats and mistakes on board in an enviable way.

I am also very proud of my young promising player Sofia Mateos, who finished runner-up in the Catalonia Junior U19 Championship despite being only 14 years old; her performance was magnificant, losing 13-11 in the fifth game against María Pajares, who came back to win after facing a match ball for Sofia.

Congratulations to both of them, for being who they are and what they are. The Catalan and Spanish women’s squash needs them both. It has been a pleasure to see how you played, how you fought and how you enjoyed your sport.”

Both players were clearly delighted with their respective results:

Sofía Mateos (2001)

N.2 U15 Spanish OPEN 2015

“Yesterday I finished runner-up of the Catalonia Junior U19 Championship after a hard fought final where I lost 3-2 and even had a match ball opportunity against my friend María Pajares Bernabeu.

Congratulations to the super Champion María, thanks to ‪Tecnifibre and many thanks to my coach and trainer Víctor Montserrat for coming to support me and for being by my side at every moment. ”

Nilo Vidal (1998)

Spanish U19 nº 1

“Catalonia U19 Champion!! Thanks to everyone who supported me during this tournament. I’m going home with some great sensations, which I really needed, that’s really great! Many thanks to all of those people who help me to keep on growing and getting better every day ! Many thanks to Edu Nadal for everything he does for me, thanks to my colleague Sergio Perdigón because his “perdigonazos” are necessary to help me keep on improving … And of course many thanks to my coach and trainer Víctor Montserrat… unfortunately I am very stubborn and he has to be with me in order for me to pay attention!!!

Many thanks to my family, and of course to my mother in particular, FOR THE HUGE EFFORT SHE MAKES EVERY DAY, ……… I hope that one day I can make it all worthwhile.

Thanks to everyone!! Vamosssssss!!!”.
